The Air Force Research Laboratory's Embedded Information Systems Engineering Branch (AFRL/IFTA) is developing, demonstrating, and transitioning timely embedded information system technologies that enable command and control of current and future aerospace weapon systems. AFRL/IFTA research focuses on the affordable, adaptable, assurable, and advanced embedded system technologies. The technologies under development include affordable upgrade strategies for legacy systems, real-time Java for real-time embedded systems, real-time adaptive middleware to support insertion of infosphere technologies, and development of open architecture technology to enable interoperability between existing and future weapon systems. The presentation will provide an overview of AFRL/IFTA and highlight several ongoing programs in the aforementioned areas.
