Strategies for Achieving Software Dependability

BACK TO LIST

The IEEE Software Engineering Standards Committee has developed a Standard Dictionary of Measures of the Software Aspects of Dependability (IEEE 982.1). The scope of this standard is to specify and classify measures of the software aspects of dependability and to provide conventions for the application and use of these measures. The revised standard will provide a technology for Department of Defense (DoD) program and project managers to apply measures of dependability to assess and predict the dependability of software during test and operation. Assessment involves making an evaluation of dependability from a historical perspective. Prediction involves forecasting the future dependability of the software.
