Modeling and Simulation: How to Credibly Perform Verification and Validation

Monday
Presentation

Modeling and Simulation (M&S) are tools that can be used to effectively reduce risks and improve the quality and reliability of many large-scale systems engineering projects. However, the use of M&S requires Verification and Validation (V&V) of the model and simulation. This presentation will cover where M&S fits into a Developmental Test and Evaluation (DT&E) effort, and how to correctly perform V&V on M&S. There are numerous methods of performing V&V on models and simulations, and this presentation will demonstrate how to select a credible subset of V&V methods that allows users of the M&S to feel that they have a reliable model with adequate fidelity.
