The Data & Analysis Center for Software (DACS) is a Department of Defense (DoD) Information Analysis Center (IAC). The DACS is an authoritative source for state-of-the-art software information providing technical support for the software community. The DACS maintains a highly visible software information Web site at http://iac.dtic.mil/dacs. Of particular note on our site is our Gold Practices area which describes software engineering and software acquisition practices that have provided a positive benefit/Return On Investment (ROI) to organizations that use them. Also of interest is the popular DACS Software Tech News newsletter which is published and distributed to the DoD software community and which is also available on our Web site. Also of interest is our technical reports, such as The Business Case for Software Process Improvement and The DACS Software Reliability Sourcebook. The DACS technical area of focus is software technology and software engineering, in its broadest sense. The DACS is a central distribution hub for software technology information sources. DACS supports the development, testing, validation, and transitioning of software engineering technology. The DACS is administratively managed by the Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC) under the DoD IAC Program. The DACS is technically managed by Air Force Research Laboratory - Information Directorate (AFRL/IF). ITT Industries, Advanced Engineering Sciences Division manages and operates the DACS, serving as a centralized source for current, available data and information concerning software engineering and software technology.
