Semantic Designs (SD) provides tools and services for automating the analysis, testing, modification, or migration of large software systems. SD's Design Maintenance System (DMS) Software Reengineering Toolkit is revolutionary generalized compiler technology that can be custom configured to carry out massive automated tasks on source code, changing the economics of large-scale software system enhancement. DMS can handle systems with mixed computer languages and tens of thousands of files. Among the many uses are documentation extraction; quality analysis; changing Application Program Interfaces (API); generating code, or porting code from one language to another (e.g., translating JOVIAL to C). In addition, SD offers DMS-derivative tools for metrics, dead/redundant code detection and removal (typically 10-20% savings in size and corresponding maintenance budgets). SD offers Test Coverage and Profiling tools for C, C#, C++, Java, Common Business-Oriented Language (COBOL) and other languages, for both standard and embedded systems, and can easily accomodate custom or legacy languages. The company offers training, support, consulting, and custom contracts as needed to enable DMS-based customer maintenance activities.

Booth Title: Software Engineering Directorate
Booth Number: 436
Software Engineering Directorate Logo
DESCRIPTION:

The Remote Weapon Station Basic Skills Trainer (RWS-BST) is an individual fire control unit tabletop trainer for the RWS peculiar to Stryker variants equipped with the MK-19/M2. This fully independent, low-overhead classroom system will train Stryker crewmembers to use the fire control unit and virtually fire either weapon system using equipment identical to the operational system. The RWS-BST instructor station is a commercial PC interfaced to the tactical RWS gunner's station components (joystick and display panel), in a tabletop configuration. The training scenes are high resolution digital images taken from a digital camera (visible) and a 2nd Gen Forward Looking Infrared Radar (FLIR). The training scenes are developed from imagery taken at Camp Pendleton. The Software Engineering Directorate (SED) has developed software that combines the digital images into a training scene and then generates a matching 3-D ground model. This provides the student gunner with highly realistic scenery and target movement. The RWS-BST allows the student gunner to execute the complete RWS tactical engagement sequence. The gunner can search the target area using continuous zoom, determine target range, and engage a target. The RWS-BST gives the soldier a low cost, highly realistic training device for gunner training.
