Leveraging Six Sigma to Achieve High Maturity

Tuesday
Presentation

A number of engineering organizations have started implementing Six Sigma. Six Sigma provides a set of integrated tools and methods for applying statistical techniques to key subprocesses, in support of business goals and achievement of higher maturity levels. By itself, Six Sigma provides a powerful approach for focusing improvements on the highest value areas, and of ensuring strong Return-on-Investment (ROI). Combined with other improvement initiatives, such as Capability Maturity Model (CMM) or Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI), the benefits are sustainable and grow exponentially.

This presentation will discuss the strategy and tactics for leveraging Six Sigma to accelerate attainment of higher maturity.

   Topics include:
   - Principles and Terminology
   - Relating Six Sigma to CMM/CMMI
   - Linking Improvement to Business Goals
   - Implementation Techniques
   - Key Six Sigma Tools
   - Roles & Responsibilities

Examples will be drawn from successful implementations from Northrop Grumman and across industry.
