GCCS Transition to JC2 End-To-End Computing for the Warfighter

Tuesday
Presentation

This presentation is intended to describe the direction being taken to evolve the Department of Defense (DoD) Global Command and Control System (GCCS) from its current mix of a family of systems into a single, integrated services-oriented architecture. This new construct, called Joint Command and Control (JC2), is the net-centric and data-centric approach to address the challenges of command and control for the DoD and the communities of interest that interact with the DoD. The advantages of a net-centric approach and its positive implications are discussed. Two examples are illustrated, one for Force Projection and one for Air/Space Operations. Finally, an action list is presented to outline the implementation of this evolution.
