An offer has been made on the four-bedroom home of Boris Johnson and his wife Carrie in south London for £1.6m, which is £400,000 more than they paid there ago three years, and just one month after its launch.

The couple bought the four-bedroom semi-Victorian in Camberwell in July 2019, apparently with a rental mortgage when Mr Johnson became Prime Minister – and after had to leave their nearby apartment when neighbors called the police after reports of explosive rows.

The Johnsons earned thousands of pounds renting the property while they were in Westminster, with the MPs’ Register of Interests showing the former Prime Minister enjoyed rental income of at least £10,000 a year.

The windfall profit will be particularly rewarding for the Johnsons given that they resisted the temptation to redecorate the three-story property, let alone decorate it with the gold Lulu Lytle wallpaper that Carrie favored during her controversial 112 renovation. £000 from their Downing Street flat.

This time, Ms Johnson appears to have opted for minimal and far less costly changes.

The gardeners planted trees in front of the house and familiarized themselves with the 100 foot garden in the back – inside, Carrie’s influence seems to have been limited to the kitchen, whose storage units – previously a rustic brown – now sport white veneers, with plain brushed steel handles.

The Camberwell property has reportedly been renovated since the start of the year.

Estate agents have described it as “beautiful” and “offering lots of character” in a “sought after” area. They said it takes up 2,100 square feet.

‘The property is finished to an excellent standard of finish, tasteful decoration and retains many features including shutters, wooden floors and low level cast iron radiators,’ they added.

It overlooks a park about a mile from the £675,000 flat the Johnsons previously shared.

Ms Johnson is believed to have left her previous residence after an overnight argument with Mr Johnson – then her boyfriend – which prompted neighbors to call the police after hearing screams.

The incident is believed to have started after red wine was spilled on a sofa. Ms Johnson was heard shouting ‘Let go of me’, as Mr Johnson told her to get off her laptop.

Neighbors said it had been empty for almost a year and on the market for several months before the sale. Hostile posters quickly appeared nearby, while neighbors complained about the prospect of Mr Johnson moving in.

One day in May this year, a car crashed into the house in the early hours of the morning.
